Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Guide

After 34 years, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is still a classic event that brings in the crowds.

It’s become a pretty large event, with 10 haunted houses, 4 scare zones, 2 shows, numerous rides to ride, lots of unique food and drink options, and more to take part in. It can be pretty overwhelming to know what to do each year.

I put this guide together to help you as you plan to visit HHN this year. I’ve been to the event a few times over the last few years, so I’ve learned firsthand how to have a great time without getting too stressed out.

I’m also a Universal Orlando Annual Passholder and have over 25 years of experience visiting, researching, and working in theme parks, so I know a thing or two about how to visit a park and still enjoy myself.

Read through my Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2025 Guide to learn how to plan a fun, stress-free vacation this year!

There are going to be ten haunted houses at this year’s event. Descriptions below are pulled straight from the official website.

And there will be five based on original ideas and themes for this year’s event:

  • The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane – Travel down a spooky winding path to a mysterious home, where trick-or-treaters are transformed into feral felines. Be careful or you’ll be next.

What is the best day to go to Halloween Horror Nights?

One of the best ways to see which nights are the best to visit is by looking at the ticket prices for each night. Nights with lower ticket prices tend to be less busy, and therefore cost less.

As a general rule of thumb, nights in September will be less busy than October, and weekends will be the busiest nights you can go, so avoid them whenever possible. An ideal night would be a Sunday or Thursday in September,

What is Premium Scream Night?

Premium Scream Night is a way to experience the event at the very beginning with some added perks, such as:

What time should I arrive at Halloween Horror Nights?

If you have a Scream Early ticket or Annual Pass, I’d aim to be at the park by 3pm. If you do not, I’d plan on being at the park lined up to get in no later than 5-5:30pm. Take the free transportation provided by Universal if you’re staying on-property!

Is Scream Early worth it?

Absolutely. Being able to get into the park at 3pm, not only do you get to experience the park during the daytime for a few hours (catch the Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show if you can!), but you get to start queing up for the houses early. This means you can get some of them done before the event opens to the public at 6:30.

I’ve personally knocked out 2-4 houses before 6:30 by being in the park early.

Scream Early tickets start at $55 per person per night plus tax. Guests who have an Annual Pass do not need to purchase a Scream Early ticket, as they are already able to be in the park during the day. They do still have to purchase an HHN ticket, though.

Can you ride rides during Halloween Horror Nights?

Yes, there are several Universal Studios Florida rides open for the event. This year’s lineup includes Revenge of the Mummy, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Transformers: The Ride – 3D and Men In Black: Alien Attack.

Can I take a backpack into Halloween Horror Nights?

You may, but they will be searched by security. Suitcases or bags with wheels are prohibited. Only soft-sided cooler smaller than 8.5″ wide x 6″ high x 6″ deep are permitted.

Can I bring food to Horror Nights?

There’s so much good food at Halloween Horror Nights, so if you’re worried about being able to find something good to eat, don’t be! Each year brings new food items with it, but some classics remain year after year. Two words: Twisted Taters.

The only acceptable items that may be brought in in terms of food are:

  • Bottled Water (maximum 2 liters per guest)
  • Any food required for medical purposes, medically indicated nutritional supplements, or special dietary needs
  • Baby food/baby formula

What does Halloween Horror Nights look like during the day?

During the day, you’ll see some props and set pieces still out and about for Halloween Horror Nights, but they won’t be used until the event starts in the evening. Please be respectful and do not climb or damage set pieces and props during the day.

What are the accessibility options at Halloween Horror Nights?

There are many accessibility options for Halloween Horror Nights and the Universal Orlando Resort. I encourage you to read more details at the official website.

Other Tips and Tricks for Halloween Horror Nights 2025

  • Consider Going In September: Septemeber won’t be as busy as October, so try and visit early if you can.
  • Do Houses Based on IPs First: Most times, the houses based on existing IPs tend to get the longest lines, so if there are some you want to do, I suggest knocking those out first before the event gets busier as the night goes on.
  • Purchase Express Pass: If you’re only going once a year, plan on budgeting in Express Pass to really enjoy your night with as little stress as possible.
  • Purchase Scream Early Tickets and Arrive Early: The event tends to get very busy, so try to get into the park around 3pm to knock some rides out and start queuing for haunted houses before the event officially starts.
  • Stay Hydrated: You’ll be doing quite a bit during the event, and you may forget to drink water. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the night to prevent dehydration.
  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: There’s not much sitting to be done at Halloween Horror Nights, since you stand waiting in lines for haunted houses and then walk through haunted houses on your feet. Invest in comfortable shoes with adequate support for your feet.
  • Don’t Forget The Food: There’s so much good food at HHN – don’t think it’s the same stuff you can get during the day!
  • The Best Hotel to Stay At? Hard Rock Hotel Orlando. It’s right next to the park, so you can be back in your room minutes after leaving the park. Book early, though, as this hotel will be highly booked on event nights!
  • Have A Plan: Hopefully, you worked with a travel advisor to figure out the order you want to do your houses in and what food you want to try, but if not, try and do some research beforehand to come up with a plan of attack for the event. There’s so much to do and see!

What I’m Excited For At Halloween Horror Nights 2025

  • The Terrifier House – The park has promised a lot for this one, so I’m excited to see what they’ve been dreaming up. They even jokingly said to bring ponchos. Yuck.
  • Jason Universe House – While Jason isn’t my favorite horror movie villain, he’s still iconic, so I’m excited to see him in the flesh.
  • Gálkn: Monsters of the North – The premise for this house sounds interesting, and if they play up the spooky winter vibes, it could be really neat. I loved the Yeti house they had a few years ago, so hoping this has similar vibes.
  • El Artista: A Spanish Haunting – This sounds like it’s going to give me some creepy artwork vibes, like a more demented Tim Burton, which is right up my alley! This may possibly be the house I’m most looking forward to.
  • All The Scare Zones – Every single scare zone sounds interesting to me. Dare I say I’m more excited for them than the houses this year?
  • Mel’s Die-In Zombies – I love Mel’s Die-In, so the fact that they’re going to be adding zombies outside sounds really cool to me.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay – I love anything with a circus or carnival theme, so I have high hopes for this one.
  • Twisted Taters – Enough said.
  • Other Special Food for the Event – I can’t wait to see and try the special drinks and food items they have that are exclusive to this year’s event!
