Terra Luna Review: Is This Universal Orlando Hotel Worth It?

Looking up at multicolored tiles on Terra Luna resort at Universal Orlando resort

If you’ve been keeping up with Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe buzz, you’ve probably heard about Terra Luna Resort — the sister hotel to Stella Nova Resort and one of Universal’s new Prime Value hotels designed to offer budget-friendly accommodations right near the action.

I recently stayed at Terra Luna and spent a couple of days soaking in the atmosphere, testing out the dining options, and seeing how it stacks up against Stella Nova and the rest of the Universal hotel lineup.

Here’s my honest Terra Luna review, what to expect, and whether it should be your home base for your next Universal Orlando Resort trip. Spoiler: there’s a lot to love, but a couple of drawbacks too.

Terra Luna Room Tour: Nearly Identical to Stella Nova — With a Twist

The rooms at Terra Luna Resort feel like a near twin to those at Stella Nova Resort, with some key differences in theming and atmosphere. Where Stella Nova leans heavily into futuristic space visuals, Terra Luna goes for a more planetary vibe — think deep, earthy tones and subtle cosmic details.

Each room has:

  • Two queen beds with thin comforters (bring or request extra blankets if you like a heavy cover)
  • A bathroom with a backlit mirror and mounted Cosmic Ember toiletries
  • A mini-fridge (no freezer)
  • A wireless charging clock and USB outlets
  • An in-room thermostat to obsess over your perfect room temperature
  • A surprisingly spacious closet with a safe, iron, ironing board, and luggage rack

Terra Luna’s connecting room doors are smartly placed far from the beds, so you’re less likely to overhear your neighbor’s midnight pizza order from Universal CityWalk.

Hotel Theming and Ambiance

The theming here feels a little more understated compared to Stella Nova. The lobby is simpler with fewer art pieces, but I actually preferred the vibe inside Omega Cafe and Market, Terra Luna’s main dining option. It’s moodier, with warm lighting and a cozy atmosphere — a nice break from the bright fluorescents you’ll find elsewhere.

Dining at Omega Cafe and Market

For breakfast, I grabbed a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel, and while the sandwich was solid, the real MVP was the breakfast potatoes — perfectly seasoned and crispy. Seriously, Universal’s culinary team nailed it with these.

With my Annual Pass discount, this meal came to $10.54.

Later, I tried the crispy chicken sandwich (hold the pickles for me) and again, those fries stole the show. Everything was reasonably priced too, especially with an Annual Pass discount – my meal total came to $14.48.

Transportation & Park Access

Here’s the big difference between Terra Luna and Stella Nova: there’s no direct walking path to Epic Universe. You technically can walk it, but it’s not easy or quick. The resort recommends taking the free shuttle service, which runs to Epic Universe, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay, and CityWalk.

The shuttle was reliable during my stay — about 10 minutes from CityWalk late at night, but closer to 20 minutes earlier in the day when crowds are heavier.

You also get the same benefits you get at all Universal on-site hotels: free transportation to and from the parks, early theme park access, merchandise delivery, room charging access, and more!

It should be noted that this hotel does not come with free Express passes like some other Universal hotels do. Check out which hotels include free Express passes for every day you stay!

Terra Luna vs. Stella Nova: Which Should You Pick?

If easy park access is a top priority for you (especially to Epic Universe, home to attractions like Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe with Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment), I’d lean toward Stella Nova. That walking path is a game-changer.

It’s also a 10-20 minute shuttle ride away from Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and CityWalk, so if you’re going to be spending most of your time at those parks, I’d recommend staying at one of the hotels closer to those properties, like Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay.

But if the price is right, and you don’t mind relying on shuttles, Terra Luna is a fantastic option. The rooms are clean, the food’s great, and it’s an overall solid pick for a budget-friendly Universal Orlando Resort hotel stay.

Final Verdict and Ratings: Would I Stay at Terra Luna Again?

Yes — if the price is right. While it’s not my first pick for theme park access, it’s a comfortable, clean, well-priced resort – I paid $259.88 for two nights with my Annual Pass discount. It also has solid amenities and one of the better Prime Value hotel dining options on property.

If you’re planning a quick weekend trip to Epic Universe or Universal Mardi Gras, Halloween Horror Nights, or the Holidays at Universal, Terra Luna is a great home base. Just be mindful of the time it will take you to get to/from each park.
